Oliver (the poet)

Mary Oliver (Ohio, September 10, 1935) is an American poet who has won the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize among countless other honors. She is known for her clear and poignant observations of the natural world and how that world collides with the world of ourselves. The Harvard Review describes her as "a poet of wisdom and generosity whose vision allows us to look intimately at a world not of our making." She is also a lover of dogs, as evidenced by her 2013 collection, Dog Songs. Mary passed away on January 17, 2019 from lymphoma.
