A few weekends ago, we were with a large group of people, one of whom surveyed us with the question "Where do you most want to travel?" I blurted out "Patagonia!" as South America has been a dream destination for awhile, but the conversation made me flashback to trips we've taken together -- Tuscany and the Cinque Terre, San Fran and Northern California, most recently Barcelona, the Spanish countryside and Bordeaux and more local destinations sprinkled throughout the Eastern US.
I love to travel. I don't love the preparation--the endless decisions about where to go, where to book, logistics, timing, restaurants, ack, all of that freaks me out! Luckily, Simon is quite good at those types of things, and while I've managed to find some amazing hotels, that's where my planning abilities stop. But I love exploring new places and almost more than anything, having the freedom of not being at work. I can have that 2pm cocktail without reaching into my desk drawer for the flask.
We're in the final stages of preparations for our next installment of late June travel. This time we're off to Alaska, Vancouver and my brother and sister in law's in Eastern Washington. Here's a tidbit: on the 10-day forecast for Fairbanks the sunrise is slated for 2:58am and the sunset for 12:56am. What the what!!!!
So Merwin is off to spend some time with Grandma Janey on the Vineyard and we're frantically making our lists and checking them twice. While I'm not saavy enough to create posts from away, I'll be sure to inundate you with a catalog of our adventures upon my return. Hopefully I don't fall off the cruise ship. Bon voyage!
